PORTUGUESE GP FP1-2

The first day of free practice of the second season at the Algarve International Circuit has just concluded for the MV Agusta Forward Racing team rider.

Twelve days after the last race in Doha, the Moto2 World Championship kicked off today for the third round of 2021 at the Portuguese track, which with its 15 corners and continuous ups and downs is also known as the “Rollercoaster”.
The weather was kind, and both sessions were run in the dry with 22°C air and 35°C tarmac, but with a headwind on the straight at around 23km/h.

Lorenzo Baldassarri kicked off FP1 with a good pace that saw him well within the points zone for much of the session. Then a crash on lap 13, while he was trying to improve his lap time, prevented him from finishing the session in the deserved positions. In FP2 Lorenzo was able to improve his time from the morning, ending the day with a best time of 1:44’834, more than 2 seconds better than in FP1.

Lorenzo Baldassarri #7
“As the first day here in Portugal I would say we started from a good base. I felt better than I did in Qatar, especially this morning. It was a shame about the crash when I was trying to set a lap time. This afternoon was more complicated and I was expecting to do better but we have a lot of room for improvement ahead of tomorrow”.
