Circuito Estoril - PORTUGAL

Estoril Round

Circuit information

Length: 4.182 m

Left curves: 4

Right curves: 9

The longest straight: 969 m

Built: 2008

The Circuito Estoril has previously been on the WorldSBK calendar twice: firstly in 1988 and then again in 1993. The circuit is vast but technical, and features one of the longest straights on the calendar at just under 1km. Two noticeable hairpins and long parabolicas, the circuit lends itself to close racing and has a variety of overtaking hotspots. Situated just over 30km from the Portuguese capital city of Lisbon, the track is a stone’s throw from the coastal city of Estoril, making it a tourist hotspot too. From the four races run, four different riders have won, and that streak is guaranteed to be extended in 2020.

Balda’s thought

“It’s a very technical and fascinating track, especially the last sector. There is an uphill “S” and the last corner, the one before the straight…it never ends and is blind. So you have to connect it to be able to exit in the best possible way and launch hard for the straight”.
