It was an amazing bag of emotions for the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team, who were able to celebrate another podium finish on Sunday at Assen, with Lorenzo Baldassarri taking a fabulous second place in race 2.

Day 3 on Dutch soil began with a warm-up session, with Balda on track to make final adjustments to his Yamaha YZF-R6 ahead of race 2.
The Italian rider completed six laps, obtaining ninth position in the classification.

Late in the morning the lights went out for Race 2, with Balda making a positive move from sixth to third. In the following laps Lorenzo caught up with the momentary race leader Oncu, taking the lead. In the second half of the race the number 7 moved into second place, intelligently managing the drop in tyres and his own position until the chequered flag. This was Baldassarri’s third podium finish in four races.

At the end of this second round of the season Lorenzo occupies second place in the overall standings, with 30 points.

The next round of the World Supersport Championship will take place over the weekend of 22 May, at the Estoril circuit in Portugal.

Today it was important to get a positive result, given the unfortunate crash yesterday. I tried with all my might to win, but Aegerter was very fast: unfortunately I lost time fighting with Bulega, and the gap created in the meantime was decisive. At the end of the race I also took a couple of risks, which convinced me that second place was the best possible result. I’m very happy and I really thank the team for their great work over the weekend”.
