Last winter tests before the Australian meeting.

Lorenzo Baldassarri and the GMT94 Yamaha team met in Portugal at the Portimão circuit for the last winter tests in order to continue the work on the YZF-R1.

Two days during which Balda was able to try out the “time attack” and the race simulations. The five-time Moto2 winner clearly showed an “increase in power” confirming the very good work done with the team at the Jerez test the week before.

Balda will go to Phillip Island in Australia in a few week’s time for 2 days of tests before starting the 2023 season in the World Superbike Championship.

“They were two very important days. The track is technical, difficult and therefore requires a lot of physical effort. I was worried because I didn’t know what handling such a powerful bike would be like, I thought it would be more difficult, however, even though we undoubtedly still have a lot of work to do, I felt really comfortable on board of my Yamaha. I’m happy. And I’m also really satisfied with the work done with my team… after all, it’s all new, both for me and for them. But it was a really good start. Now I can’t wait to go to Australia”.
