EMILIA ROMAGNA ROUND

The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is located in the municipality of Misano Adriatico, in the province of Rimini, precisely in the hamlet of Santa Monica. It therefore rises in Romagna, a land of drivers and engines, a land where the passion for motorcycling is present and evident, a land where this Grand Prix takes on a truly special value for riders and spectators. It was built in 1972, undergoing various changes over the years.

Along with circuits such as Phillip Island, Assen and Donington this is one of the ‘classic’ WorldSBK venues with the championship having visited the Italian track very consistently over the decades.
The first time WorldSBK raced at Misano was in 1991.The track is characterized by fifteen curves and three short straights, the longest of which does not reach 600 m and thanks to the numerous changes of direction between fast curves and variants, with average decelerations around 1.3-1.4 g, allows riders set different trajectories that offer numerous overtaking possibilities. Since 2012, the track has been named after the unforgettable Marco Simoncelli.

Misano, home circuit, lots of stuff! There is always a beautiful atmosphere, you always feel that magical feeling, you have the perception of a special race. Even if the track is not spectacular, it is always one of the best GPs. The circuit is not fascinating, it is a track where there are several interesting points. For example, the first part where there is the chicane, then right-left and then fast right, and the corner where the bike tends to slide, very nice, fast, and then big braking at the quercia. Another interesting part is the very fast corner after the straight and then that sequence of curves before arriving at the carro.
