GP QATAR FP1-2

Balda was back on track today at the Losail circuit, five days after the last day of testing, for the first two free practice sessions at the Qatar track.

Today saw in FP1 the air temperature rise up to 37Cº and that of the tarmac up to 53Cº, with wind on the track in favour in the straight. In FP2 the conditions definitely improved, with an air temperature of 26Cº and around 32Cº tarmac.

Lorenzo Baldassarri, who makes his debut on this track for his first race with the team and with the new Varese branded bike, used FP1 to continue the work started during the tests, to grind kilometres and adapt his riding style to the MV Agusta F2. In the evening session, however, the rider from Marche managed to break the two-minute wall, stopping the clock at 1:59’846 in 15th position, just 2 thousandths from 14th. “We can consider this FP2 almost as an FP3, because tomorrow in the afternoon session will be difficult to improve the times.

“Today we had the first day of testing and finally I can say that the season has begun. I am really happy to start this new adventure. Today in Fp1 the temperatures were very high and it was difficult to manage the grip. In Fp2 instead we made a good step forward, it was a pity that for only 2 thousandths we did not enter in Q2. Tomorrow it will be difficult to recover in Fp3 because of the high temperatures we will find on the track. In any case we have understood important things today and where to work more intensively. My feeling with the bike is improving day by day and I am gaining more and more confidence. We will continue on this path to give more every day, also thanks to the support of the team that is helping me a lot”.
